About Solidarity Center
The American Center for International Labor Solidarity (Solidarity Center) is non-profit organization established to provide assistance to workers around the world. Working with trade unions, non-governmental organizations, and other community partners, the Solidarity Center supports programs and projects to advance worker rights and promote broad-based, sustainable economic development around the world. The Solidarity Center is the international development and technical assistance institute of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO). It was created in 1997 through the consolidation of four regional AFL-CIO institutes. The Center engages in a wide range of technical assistance, educational and other activities to promote human and worker rights around the world, and to help workers build democratic and independent trade unions. Building on more than 15 years of experience in combating child labor and migrant worker exploitation, the Solidarity Center has been at the forefront of raising awareness around the world about the prevalence of trafficking in persons for labor exploitation and is recognized as a leader in efforts to address it.
Staff Information
Neha Misra, Program Officer and Coordinator of Counter Trafficking Programs--Neha Misra is a Program Officer and the Coordinator of Counter Trafficking Programs at the Solidarity Center in Washington, DC. Previously, Neha was the Deputy Country Director and Program Manager for the Solidarity Center's Counter Trafficking Project in Indonesia. She worked in Indonesia for over five years, starting with the Solidarity Center as the Director of its Democracy Project. Neha has a Juris Doctor degree from the American University Washington College of Law (WCL), where she focused her studies on international human rights law.
